Sittel Records
The band on this album has a unique set of instruments, a combination never heard in jazz before. It is a trio of voice, piano and bass, supported by seven horns: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon (doubling baritone sax), French form, trumpet and trombone. Not using drums has affected the way the music is performed and it has also made it easier to perform live without amplification on every instrument. Elisabeth Melander is one of Sweden’s top singers, who easily moves over the genre boundaries but often returns to jazz. Håkan Rydin has toured over many parts of the world and performed with among others Thad Jones, Red Mitchell, Enrico Rava, Pepper Adams ns Kim Parker. Together with his highly acclaimed group NEXUS he has made over 1000 concerts around world. Håkan’s style of playing has been described as ”lyrical and cooking”. Hans Andersson is one of the top bass players of Sweden, internationally active in several Scandinavian bands. Sten Ingelf is professor of arranging at the Malmö Academy Of Music. He has written for a long line of musicians amongst them notably Michael Brecker and Tolvan Big Band.
